II- MISSION STATEMENT

The Department of Physics at the Higher Teacher Training College of the University of Bamenda, along with its commitment to the promotion, advancement and dissemination of knowledge in the field of education with the excitement and challenge of forefront research, is actively involved in outreach and professional development of teachers and excelling in research in areas in which the Department offers Programmes.

The Undergraduate Programme consists of a focused physics Secondary Teacher Education Programme (STEP) combined with research. The Bachelor degree and DIPES I prepares a student for a career in the public and private sectors or for continuing education in physics, physics education, engineering and many other fields. The STEP is an extended Programme of study leading to certification and degree. Generally, eligibility for admission to the STEP requires an entrance examination.

 

It is widely recognised that the provision of higher level skills to students of all ages prepares them with the adaptability to thrive in the new order. A strong foundation in higher education is essential to achieve long-term objectives of human capital development as a key enabling factor in the pursuit of prosperity and a sustainable national economy.
